I am an astronomer in the Department of Astronomy, Kyoto University. My research focuses on astrophysical explosive and transient phenomena in the Universe, including supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, and various kinds of enigmatic events. I also work for related topics, such as stellar evolution, the origin(s) of matter in different formats (elements, cosmic rays, dust particles), and observational cosmology. I investigate the physics of these exciting phenomena through both theoretical and observational studies.

The theoretical research adopts various different approaches, covering both analytical work and intensive supercomputing simulations. The physical processes which I mainly consider are the following: hydrodynamics, nuclear reactions and nucleosynthesis, radiation transfer, and stellar evolution. On the observational side, I have been conducting multi-wavelength follow-up observations of supernovae and extragalactic transients. I use various telescopes around the world, including the 3.8m Seimei Telescope of Kyoto University, the Subaru, ALMA, Chandra, among others. Combining the theoretical approaches and the broad-band/multi-mode observations, I am exploring the nature and origin of the high-energy phenomena from various perspectives.
